Been wanting to hit this for a while, but was looking too busy to make it.  Just realized today I can at least hit up Friday night and basically thats where I wanted to be anyway.
Cold War Kids, followed by the absoluely amazing 'Beck' followed by Radiohead.  I said yeah yeah yeah!!!!!!!
The map on the outside lines webpage really sucks though, I can't read it so i have no idea where the sutro lindley meadow is at. A little help would be appreciated

Ah much better, thank you.
By noon I assume you're talking about saturday and sunday, not tomorrow no?
I don't even know if i can get there before 5 so it might be tough to make the beginning of cold war kids.  That will suck since its a short set.  I had Cold War Kids and White Stripes tix for last september in September but then Meg White got anxiety(I'm not making that up) and they cancelled the whole tour.  Not good times, bad times.  Anyway so i still haven't seen them yet but their album has become a very frequented one on my ipod. Looking forward to this.
Another one, Beck isn't done until 750 and then radiohead shorty there after.  I've never been to GGP.  On the map it looks like the Sutro is really close to the Lands End, or is that not the case? Hmmm, want to get close for radiohead but not looking like thats going to happen.

I'm only going for Radiohead, so the other acts don't matter to me. Gates open at 2:30pm, line ups start at noon, and I'm off tomorrow. I might get there closer to 1pm, but I want to try and get as close as I can get to the stage. This might be the last time I see Radiohead live with an opportunity to get up pretty close. The Greek Theatre show in 2006 was GA also, and we decided settle in the middle just to take in the whole scene.

Ok, I only went friday night, but I have to say that their crowd control mechanisms sucked: getting from the polo fields to lindley meadow was a total joke. I have to think that the SF rec and parks department forced the festival into putting up all of those internal fences in hopes of keeping people off the steeper hills/dunes. But the city is very lucky that nobody got hurt. There were some quasi stampedes as people tried to get from Beck to Radiohead, and the fences came down.

Then of course, the power went down on the sound systems twice during Radiohead. I grabbed my date and got prepared for an early exit should the crowd have gotten out of hand. But people seemed pretty chill by that point.

I only got to see Beck and Radiohead. Neither was particularly inspiring. I realize that the format of music festivals requires you to make a choice between acts, but I feel like they could have simply used all of friday and put the main bands on the main stage: Black keys from 2-3:30, many chao from 4-5:30, beck from 6-7:30, Radiohead 8-10. That way you'd get to see all of the acts and the scene would have been a bit more relaxed in terms of everyone showing up at once.
